About Us
Friends Day Nursery is owned by Andrew & Sarah-Jane Middleton, and has been operating since 1998. Friends is managed by Aoife McPhail who joined us in 2001.
The aim of Friends Day Nursery is to provide a happy and secure environment in which a child feels able to express freely through constructive and imaginative play in order to develop their character. Our team believe this will provide a solid foundation for each child as they enter formal education.
We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where our children are listened to and can follow their own interests. They are encouraged to be independent and solve their own problems. We provide our children with the foundation to grow and develop in 6 key areas including maths, social skills, language, physical skills, the environment and the arts. We lay a great foundation for lifelong learning.

Facilities
Friends is situated in a quiet, rural setting approximately 1.25 miles out of Saintfield town. The purpose built ‘day care facility’ is situated in quiet, rural farmland that is easily accessible from all routes.
The custom designed building has been well thought out creating a fresh approach to childcare. Simple materials and natural light have been used in an innovative manner to provide a delightful series of internal spaces.
Rooms
The spacious building incorporates four self-contained areas:
A baby caring unit for babies and ‘wobblers’ from 6 weeks-2 years, a ‘toddler’ unit caring for children from 2-3 years, a preschool unit caring for 3-4 year olds and an after-school club for 4-11 year old children. All rooms have their own play, art, dining and sleep areas.
Activities
There is a hive of daily activity, including table top play, baking, gardening, art activities, water play, dressing up and construction to encourage imaginative development. All rooms have easy access to exciting outside play-areas.
Each room has been carefully designed and tastefully decorated to create a stimulating environment and a setting that motivates the mind in which children really thrive.
